When we do not acknowledge, fear, and seek after God, we are being deceitful, because God has unquestionably made us know Him, all in order to seek Him. Anyone who does not seek Him, does so by their own choice, not because they lacked the knowledge or ability. They do so by their own willful wickedness. This is why Jeremiah says “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked”
Departing God by your own choice
And then Jeremiah goes on to further show Romans to be correct. He says “all who forsake you” and “Those who depart from me” and “they have forsaken the Lord”.All these show the exact same thing: man leaves God by his own wicked choice.Let’s look specifically at Jeremiah 17:13depart, and forsaken, you can see they all have the same meaning: to leave, to depart, to abandon, to apostatize. Man willfully leaves God, because by God’s love and mercy, He offers salvation to all men. God provided the way (by Christ) and the knowledge and ability (by the Holy Spirit) to all people to repent and trust in Him.Think about it; faith is trust. God is asking us to trust in what? Trust in Him! How can we trust in someone we don’t know, or haven’t heard from? We do know Him and we have heard from Him!Those “written in the earth” will not be in the Book of Life, and instead will be in the earth, and judged, and thrown in, with death and Hades, into the lake of fire. All of Scripture fits perfectly together, and interprets itself. We just have to be diligent in examining, studying, and being open to what it says, not what we want it to say.
